Bangladesh witnessed 19 deaths and 5,951 dengue cases in June as the mosquito-borne disease continues to spread rapidly across the country with the onset of the monsoon, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The number of dengue cases in June marks a significant rise compared to May, when 1,773 infections and three deaths were reported, the DGHS said.

In the latest update, one more dengue-related death was reported in the 24 hours till Thursday morning, pushing the death toll from the disease to 43 so far this year.

During the period, 386 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total infected-case to 10, 682 this year.​..

429 more new dengue cases were reported in the past 24 hours till Sunday morning, bringing the total number of cases to 17,218 this year.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 133 new cases were reported in Barisal Division (Out of CC), 78 in Chittagong Division (Out of CC), 55 in Khulna Division (Out of CC), 11 in Mymensingh Division, six in Rangpur Division (Out of CC), 48 in Rajshahi Division, 24 in Dhaka Division (Out of CC), 18 in Dhaka North City Corporation and 58 in Dhaka South City Corporation.

The number of deaths remained at 62, with no new fatalities reported during this period, the DGHS added.​..

Health officials report 190 fresh cases of dengue inflection overnight

​DHAKA, Aug 8, 2025 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 190 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in the past 24 hours in the country.

"During the period, (of the 190) 40 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division", a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

It said among the rests, 50 were hospitalised in Chattogram division, 27 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 42 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 21 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, seven in Khulna and three were hospitalized in Mymensingh division.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 95 deaths while the disease inflicted 23,410.​..

Bangladesh has recorded 363 new hospitalisations from dengue fever over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number admitted with the Aedes mosquito-borne disease this year to 33,309.

The Directorate General of Health Services provides updates on how many patients are hospitalised from dengue. However, many dengue patients do not go to the hospital. As a result, it is difficult to say exactly how many infections from the disease have been recorded throughout 2025.

Bangladesh’s record for most dengue cases registered in a year is 2023, where 321,179 people were hospitalised with the disease. In 2024, the number was 101,211. It was 62,382 in 2022, 28,429 in 2021, 1,405 in 2020, and 101,354 in 2019.

According to this count, this year’s total is already the fifth highest.​..

​Bangladesh logged its deadliest day of the year from dengue today (21 September), with 12 people succumbing to the mosquito-borne disease in just 24 hours.

The latest fatalities pushed the nationwide death toll to 179 since January, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

More than half of this year's dengue fatalities in Bangladesh occurred within just 24 hours of hospital admission, largely due to delayed hospitalisation, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today (22 September).

At a press briefing on the dengue situation, DGHS Director of Communicable Disease Control Dr Halimur Rashid said, "So far, we have reviewed 114 dengue deaths. Of them, 66 patients died within 0–24 hours of hospitalisation, 18 within 24–48 hours, five within 48–72 hours, and 25 after 72 hours."

He noted that most of the deceased sought medical care late—typically after enduring fever for three to six days—leaving their average hospital stay before death at just 2.5 days...

Dhaka, 6 November 2025: The ongoing dengue outbreak in Bangladesh is escalating, with the number of infections and fatalities sharply increasing across the nation. In the latest 24 hours, five additional deaths were reported, bringing the total death toll for the year to 307, according to local media sources.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed that most recent fatalities occurred in the Dhaka South City Corporation, where three deaths were recorded, while one each was registered in the Dhaka North City Corporation and Mymensingh Division. Meanwhile, 1,034 new patients were hospitalised with viral fever during this timeframe, raising the total number of dengue cases in 2025 to 76,026, as reported by the United News of Bangladesh.

Currently, 1,155 individuals are receiving treatment in Dhaka, with 3,331 patients admitted to various hospitals throughout Bangladesh. Gender distribution among this year's patients shows that 62.3 per cent are male and 37.7 per cent female. Among the fatalities, 52.8 per cent were male and 47.2 per cent female.

In comparison, the previous year saw a total of 575 dengue-related deaths. Director General of DGHS, Abu Jafor, noted on October 9 that while the number of cases in 2025 exceeds that of 2024, the mortality rate relative to the infections has decreased...
