Bahrain's Health Ministry reported 41 more coronavirus cases, 34 of them foreign workers, bringing the overall figure to 3,720.

Eight people have died from the virus so far, the ministry said.

MANAMA, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Bahrain authorities said on Thursday that 59 frontline healthcare workers have been infected with COVID-19 since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in February.

Health Ministry's Public Health Director Dr Najat Abu AL Fateh said, "There were 33 medical workers including doctors, nurses and other health professionals who were infected with COVID-19, and 26 supporting staff doing cleaning and maintenance were infected."

Forty of the above cases have recovered, said the official.

As of Wednesday evening, Bahrain reported a total of 3,934 infections with eight deaths from the coronavirus

In a statement, Bahrain’s Health Ministry said the nationwide death toll had risen to eight and the country has 4,199 confirmed cases.

A total of 2,000 people have recovered from the disease.
