Don't share saliva.

That's the main advice in preventing strep throat, says Dr. Karen Goodison, a public health and preventive health resident currently working with Interior Health in their communicable disease unit in Vernon.

A family physician now certifying in communicable diseases, Goodison was responding to a single case of scarlet fever reported at Bastion Elementary School.

Goodison says IH is not worried about the case of scarlet fever, described as strep throat with a rash on the BC Health Newslink website...
