وقال "خطورة وباء أنفلونزا الخنازير لا يجب أن تنسينا المعايير الدينية الصحيحة فى التعامل مع الحيوانات، لأن ديننا يأمرنا إذا قتلنا أن نحسن القتلة".

وقال طنطاوى، فى تصريح خاص لليوم السابع، إنه ينتظر خطابا رسميا من وزارة الصحة بضرورة إلغاء الحج وتأجيل العمرة هذا العام حتى يصدر الأزهر فتوى بهذا المعنى.

وأضاف "فى حالة عدم إخطارنا من قبل وزارة الصحة فلن نتسرع فى إصدار تلك الفتوى حتى لا نثير الذعر والخوف بين المواطنين".

وشدد طنطاوى على ضرورة اتباع الأجهزة الرسمية بالدولة لأسلوب تحذير المواطنين من مرض أنفلونزا الخنازير وتوعيتهم بخطورته وطرق تلافيه، ولكن دون مبالغة أو تهويل قد يبث الرعب داخل المواطنين.

من ناحية أخرى أكد طنطاوى - خلال لقائه اليوم بوزير الهجرة الكندى- أن العلاقات بينه وبين البابا شنودة بطريرك الكرازة المرقصية على أحسن حال، مضيفا أنه يلتقى مع البابا شنودة مرة على الأقل شهريا لتبادل الآراء فى القضايا الهامة فى إطار صداقة حميمة تجمعهما.

كما نصح طنطاوى السفير الكندى بالقاهرة فيرى بى كيركو بضرورة تعلم اللغة العربية أثناء تواجده بمصر، مؤكدا له أن اللغة العربية لغة ثرية.
