Azerbaijani State Veterinary Service Denies Suspicion of Presence of Bird Flu in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Barda / TrendCapital corr. S.Babayeva / The State Veterinary Service at the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry denies any information about suspicious regarding the presence of Avian Flu in the Zakatala region of Azerbaijan.

Yolchu Khanvali, the Press Secretary of the State Service, reported that the case had been examined and no threat was found.


Starting from 20 September, a ban has been imposed on the sale of poultry in the central poultry market in Aliabad village of Zakatala region of Azerbaijan.

Arshad Gudratov, the Director of the Hygiene and Epidemiology Centre of Zakatala region, said the ban on selling poultry was imposed as a preventative measure.

The reason for imposing the ban is due to the recent discovery of bird flu in the Krasnodar region of Russia, the Executive Department of Zakatala region reported.

Blood samples of the poultry were sent to a laboratory for examination.

The first testing for bird flue will commence on 24 September with results to be announced on 6 October.
