AVIAN INFLUENZA IN ITALY :: CURRENT EVENTS

Giuseppe

Emeritus
Since June Italy experiences a surge in poultry epizootics due to AIV (mainly H5 and H7 subtypes). See Animal Diseases Notification System Update at European Commission website.
To date, 18 confirmed epizootics were detected.
For the public, few media reports circulated. I send an e-mail to promedmail.org with most recent LPAI H7N3 epizootics list. Later, an official from IZSVE (OIE reference Laboratory for AIV) declared to promed that Italy sends to OIE a report twice at year (six months between reports).
Subsequently, no public press release appeared at IZSVE website, after start of vaccination campaign for poultry.
This is the latest report from IZSVE (LINK).
