LEEUWARDEN -
Two companies in Friesland hens affected by a mild strain of avian influenza. As a precaution its 60,000 chickens culled in recent days.

The outbreak was detected last month on a farm in Idsegahuizen (19,000 chickens). Companies in the area were examined, but there was still nothing wrong. Last week was also a company in Parrega (40,000 chickens) the mild bird flu detected.

The affected poultry farmers were not required to gasify the chickens, but the animal hardly laid eggs.

It is the bird flu variant H6N1 that unlike the H5N1 variant is not dangerous to humans.

In May, on a farm in Deurne 28 000 chickens culled, also hit by a mild flu.:tiphat:http://www.leeuwardercourant.nl/nie...e/Vogelgriep-op-twee-Friese-pluimveebedrijven
