Authorities confirmed first two cases of influenza A of the year in Puerto Rico

San Juan, Aug 14.- The authorities of Puerto Rico today confirmed the existence in the Caribbean island of two cases of influenza A, which has caused dozens of deaths in several Latin American countries.


'Do not wish to sound alarmist by the situation, But it is something that is being closely monitored', pointed out the secretary of the Department of Health of Puerto Rico, Rafael Joglar, on Radio Island 1320.The secretary of the Department of Health said that the two persons affected by the flu to reside in San Juan and that one of them is a minor. Joglar added that there are two other suspected cases and who are awaiting confirmation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta (USA) . 'there is no reason to cause anxiety because of the cases that have occurred. As in previous situations, in the case of influenza what is most important here is the washing of the hands', said the official.
