As COVID-19 cases surge, Austria orders a lockdown of the unvaccinated - November 15, 2021

Have to wonder why they think mandatory vaccines will help when locking down the unvaccinated didn't help.

This young Canadian woman has been traveling throughout the pandemic, yet she doesn't get sick until fully vaccinated. I've seen this coincidence quite a few times. Her vaccine experience was rough, too.

Well. I did not expect this to happen. Only 2 months ago I was fully vaccinated and yet I still tested positive for covid. Having said that, breakthrough cases do have much different symptoms on a whole, than catching covid while unvaccinated. The situation here in Ukraine is pretty bad at the moment with the delta variant said to be responsible for the quickly growing cases. Thankfully I am feeling much better now, but definitely was not something I was expecting!

I think the ""sales pitch" by governments to sell the vaccine was faulty. Many governments represented that if you got the vaccine you did not have to take any other precautions. Wrong.

We have learned that the vaccines are mostly effective in lowering severity and death - not so much for transmission prevention. Some governments are considering mandatory vaccinations to lessen the burden on hospitals.
 
Yes, the governments were probably under the impression that the vaccines were more effective. Now we know better. Most scientists still think they reduce illness for those most vulnerable to the virus, but so do monoclonal antibodies and those don't need to be forced on people. This might be a more civil way of dealing with reality, unless there is money to expand hospital care. (I'd prefer early treatment.)
