Typhoid fever kills medical student

Amuthan Annamalai was in his final year at James Cook University when he was struck down with the bacterial disease, the Townsville Bulletin reports.
The 23-year-old died at Townsville Hospital on Friday.
His parents are travelling up from Sydney to bid him farewell.
It is believed Mr Annamalai, who was due to graduate this year, fell ill during a trip to the Middle East and southern Asia.
