Bremer Bay warned of Ross River virus threat

The Health Department is warning of an outbreak of the Ross River virus in Bremer Bay.

Twenty-three people were infected with the virus in the great southern in the first two months of this year, five of those in the small Western Australian south coast town.


The mosquito-borne disease can cause a number of symptoms including swollen joints, chronic fatigue and fever.

The Health Department says there is no specific cure and people should wear protective clothing, use insect repellent and keep young children covered.
