A public health alert has been issued for people who attended a US country-rap artist's concert in Brisbane last month after a measles outbreak in Queensland.

Queensland Health confirmed three cases of measles have been linked to the Jelly Roll concert on Friday, October 24 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre at Boondall.

The concertgoers spent time in several locations while unknowingly infectious, including on the Gold Coast and Wide Bay areas.

The Brisbane concert was one of several legs in Jelly Roll's first Australian tour which also saw a surprise show added in Townsville for the Sunburnt Country music festival.

The alert comes days after the rapper cancelled his final show in Auckland, New Zealand due to illness...

People who attended the Jelly Roll concert on 24 October should see the Queensland Health website for separate exposure information.
Increased measles activity has also been reported in Western Australia

There is a risk of measles infection for people who have been in the same location as someone with measles.
The table below shows locations in NSW recently visited by a person who was infectious with measles.
People who have visited any of these locations during the dates and times below, are advised to:

  • seek medical care if symptoms develop. Please call ahead to your doctor or health service (including Emergency Department) to let them know that you may have come into contact with measles and wear a face mask when you go.

Warning amid ‘unknown’ source of measles infection in Sydney
Health authorities have warned people in a major Aussie city may have been “unknowingly exposed” to a highly contagious disease.
Clareese Packer
November 21, 2025 - 7:41AM

Health authorities have warned Sydneysiders could be unknowingly exposed to measles after someone contracted the contagious disease without any known source of infection.

NSW Health has confirmed someone has become infected with measles despite not attending any exposure sites and not knowingly coming into contact with anyone with measles.

The health body has warned others may have been exposed to measles without realising.

“With the source of the infection unknown, it is likely measles is currently circulating within the community, and other people may have been unknowingly exposed to measles,” the health alert states...

Measles cases almost triple in Australia as global outbreaks continue
By Brianna Morris-Grant

The number of measles cases nationwide is now approaching triple the number of cases reported in 2024 as outbreaks continue around the world.

There have now been 168 cases of measles across Australia in 2025, according to the national disease surveillance system.

In 2024, there were just 57.

In 2023, there were 26 cases, and just seven in 2022. In 2021, there were zero cases reported in the entire year, as the COVID-19 pandemic locked down much of the world.

The rise in numbers, experts tell the ABC, comes amid a global surge in measles outbreaks and a national lagging vaccination rate...
