Residents in Sydney's Inner West have been told to be on alert for symptoms of measles after a confirmed case was detected in three locations including a pub and petrol station.

A measles alert has been issued for Sydney's Inner West after a resident visited multiple locations in the area while infectious, including a pub and petrol station.

NSW Health said the person recently returned from Southeast Asia, where there have been ongoing outbreaks of measles in several countries.

The health alert was issued on Saturday, with authorities urging anyone who has attended three specific locations in Sydney's Inner West to be on the lookout for symptoms.

Expose sites include Metro Petroleum at 379 Enmore Road on Thursday, November 7 between 6.15am and 7am, and Philter Brewing Public Bar at 92-98 Sydenham Road at Marrickville on the same day between 6.30pm and 10pm.

Locals who attended the Marrickville Medical Centre at 5/296 Marrickville Road on Sunday, November 10 between 9.15am and 11am should also be on the lookout for symptoms.

Sydney Local Health District Acting Director of Public Health Dr Isabel Hess said symptoms of measles can take as long as 18 days to appear after a person is exposed to the disease.​...

A measles outbreak in Brisbane has prompted an urgent health warning after an infected person travelled to various locations around the region.

Metro South Health announced the infection on Wednesday and said symptoms included high temperatures, cough and a runny nose followed by a red spotty rash and sore, watery eyes a few days later.​..

...The infected individual had visited multiple sites around Brisbane including:

* Thursday 21 November – Officeworks, Logan Rd, Upper Mount Gravatt at 2:45pm to 3:45pm hrs and Out of Hours School Care, Holland Park State School, Holland Park at 6:55am to 7:40am and 3:40pm to 4:30pm.

* Friday 22 November – Chemist Warehouse Sunnybank Plaza, Sunnybank at 7:45pm to 8:35pm and 7-Eleven, Orange Grove Rd, Coopers Plains at 8:10pm to 8:50pm.

* Saturday 23 November – Dijon Toasties, Esher St, Tarragindi at 10:30am to 11:30am.

The spokesman said anyone who visited these venues during the specified periods may have been exposed to the disease and would need to look out for symptoms...

​A confirmed measles case is being managed by Sunshine Coast Health’s Public Health Unit.

The local resident recently returned on a flight from Vietnam and has visited a few locations while infectious.

They were on flight VJ083 from Vietnam to Brisbane on Wednesday, December 4, then at the Brisbane Airport between 10.30pm and 11.59pm.

An Uber then picked them up and drove them back to the Coast before midnight.

The person has then visited the Sunshine Coast University Hospital Emergency Room on Friday night between 6.30pm-7pm.​..

​WA Health has issued its second measles alert in three days after another returned traveller contracted the infection overseas.

People arriving in Perth from Singapore via flight SQ225 on Sunday have been told to monitor for symptoms for the 18 days after possible exposure to the deadly virus.

Those in Terminal 1 at Perth Airport between 5.30am and 6.30am on Sunday morning are also being urged to remain vigilant and monitor for symptoms.

WA Health confirmed the second case of measles was unrelated to the case of measles reported on Tuesday, in which a returned traveller from South East Asia visited several public places in the Armadale area between November 30 and December 6.​..

Brisbane health officials have warned the public to be on the alert for measles symptoms after a boy tested positive for the illness on Monday.

Metro North Health Unit said the boy, 2, visited the pediatric emergency department at The Prince Charles Hospital several times last week and would have been infectious in that time.​..

Measles is very infectious with symptoms presenting 7 - 10 days after contact.
People who have been vaccinated or previously contracted the disease are unlikely to become infected.
