TERRITORIANS are dying from an antibiotic-resistant strain of golden staph, which has reached epidemic proportions.

The outbreak is puzzling doctors because most of the sufferers have never set foot inside a hospital - the usual source of the bacteria.

Dr Steven Tong of the Menzies School of Health Research discovered many children in remote communities in the Top End had the bug...
