Up to 80 confirmed cases of influenza ? once known as the swine flu virus ? have been reported across the Top End since the start of November, in what authorities have labelled an "odd" flu season.

The virus has been contracted in a remote community in the Daly River region, south-west of Darwin, and in the capital city, the Northern Territory Centre for Disease Control confirmed...

There have been 80 cases of the flu confirmed in the Top End since the beginning of November, with over 40 per cent of the cases needing hospitalisation...
