A GRASSROOTS petition to change the name of the Hendra virus has drawn hundreds of signatures from the Brisbane suburb tied to the potentially fatal disease.
Eight businesses in Hendra have displayed the petition, with about 400 signatures supporting the call to rename Hendra virus after only a few days.
Hendra resident and Ray White Clayfield agent Murdoch Campbell launched the petition.
Even though other places have had diseases named after them - including the "Brisbane flu" that was the next big health threat to the world in 2007 - Mr Campbell said the ongoing coverage of Hendra virus outbreaks was damaging the suburb's reputation...
