Australia's flu epidemic is expected to have claimed the lives of more than 200 people in Victoria this year.

While official numbers are yet to be released, more than 40,000 cases have been confirmed in the state - an 80 per cent increase compared to previous years, the Herald Sun reports.

The 'unusual' flu season has seen the number of deaths more than double from previous years where less than 100 were reported...
