A total of 17 people have now been diagnosed with measles in Perth in a growing outbreak that reached WA from New Zealand last month.

The health department said today that four more people were confirmed to have the highly contagious disease over the weekend.

The majority of people who have caught measles since an infected Kiwi tourist visited Perth about three weeks ago live in the Rockingham area.

One of the confirmed cases is a woman who travelled from the 2.20pm flight from Auckland to Perth on September 23.

Communicable disease experts are warning others who were on Air New Zealand flight NZ 175 on September 23 to be on alert to the risk of them developing measles...

THE Kiwi measles outbreak has hit the Gold Coast again.

A spokesman from Gold Coast Health Unit said a passenger was diagnosed with the deadly virus shortly after arrival on a flight from New Zealand on Sunday.

“This person was exposed to measles while visiting New Zealand,” a heath spokesman said...

...The weekend’s infected individual arrived at Gold Coast Airport on Sunday at 9.55am on flight VA110 from Auckland and was diagnosed shortly after arrival.

People at the airport around the time of arrival, and the public in general, should be alert for symptoms of measles over the next three weeks, authorities said...

Two new measles cases found in Victoria

Two people have been diagnosed with measles in Melbourne and visited key tourist locations.

A person who had visited New Zealand and a traveller who had been in Laos and Thailand are the latest people identified as carrying the infectious illness, Victoria's chief health officer confirmed on Tuesday.

The pair - who are unrelated to each other or previous cases - visited popular locations in Melbourne including the zoo, David Jones in the Bourke Street Mall and cafes in late September and early October.

They also caught the route 58, 86 and 96 trams as well as a Scoot Flight from Singapore...

Perth's measles outbreak has spread to a Pilbara mine site following reports a fly-in, fly-out worker infected with the virus was diagnosed by camp medical staff on Saturday.

The number of measles cases recorded in the state has reached 41 so far in 2019, with a spike in those infected in the Rockingham area earlier this month.

The Department of Health has sent a letter to Fortescue Metals Group employees stating an employee was diagnosed with measles at FMG's Christmas Creek mine site.

It warned anyone who had been on site between October 2-12, or at Perth Airport or Cloudbreak airport on October 2, could have come into contact with the airborne virus...

A new measles scare has swept through WA, this time hitting the South West and parts of Perth after an exposed resident returned form a holiday in Thailand.

An alert has been issued to people who were in several stores in Bunbury and sites in West Perth and Balga between October 8 and 10...

...The resident who returned from Thailand this month is understood to have been at Perth Airport on October 8 from 5.30am to 8am, before jumping on a TransWa bus from East Perth to Bunbury, which departed at 9am.

Authorities have also listed possible exposures on October 9 about 2pm at the Terry White Chemist Bunbury Plaza.

On October 10 it’s understood the traveller was at IGA Balga between 10-10.30pm and Aberdeen Auto Auctions in West Perth from 1pm to 3pm.

On Monday, the traveller returned to Bunbury Plaza and was in the Woolworths between 12 and 12.30pm...

It's the second case in just three weeks across our region.

The person was unknowingly infectious while travelling on a Sunbus at these times:

Smithfield to Cairns / Cairns to Smithfield Friday 11th October, Saturday 12th October, and Sunday 13th October.

People who visited Skydive in Portsmith may also have had a small risk of being exposed to the virus...

A new measles alert has been issued for Perth after an infected person visited two childcare centres and several cafes.

The Department of Health confirmed on Sunday that the person picked up the infection during a holiday in New Zealand, then visited several public spaces in Perth between October 14 and 19.

The latest alert follows a series of outbreaks in Western Australia, stretching from Perth's southern suburbs up to a mine site in the Pilbara.

The latest person to be infected visited the following places, according to the Department of Health.

THE Department of Health has issued another measles alert for Perth, the 54th measles notification this year to date.

More than half of those (28) have been reported since the end of September.

Individuals should remain vigilant for the onset of measles symptoms for the next three weeks if they are not immune to measles and were present at the following venues, during the specified days and times:

Health authorities say the timing “couldn’t be worse” as a major measles outbreak takes hold in Brisbane’s south, centring around a local school.

Metro South Hospital and Health Service said there were 23 confirmed cases of measles from Brisbane's southside, Logan and Redland Coast areas.

The outbreak is centred around two families, including adults and children, with authorities saying they have confirmed the outbreak originated with the New Zealand outbreak presently active in that country.

Metro South public health physician Dr Kari Jarvinen said the outbreak had taken root in Queensland's south-east, after infecting a relatively large number of people...

A Queenslander visited Mullumbimby while infectious over the weekend (November 2-3).

Health authorities in Victoria have issued a measles warning after a young man who arrived at Melbourne Airport was diagnosed with the disease.
The man, aged in his 20s, is recovering at home after travelling to Melbourne from Samoa, via New Zealand.
He was aboard Air New Zealand flight NZ721 from Auckland last Thursday.
The man later travelled to the city's CBD by bus and rail and then to Shepparton in northern Victoria...

A Sydney man who travelled to Samoa recently was diagnosed with measles upon his return, with NSW health authorities urging people to vaccinate before travelling...

...Dr Bateman-Steel said people at a number of Sydney locations over the past week should watch for symptoms.

Those locations and times include the Fitness First gym at 2 Market Street, Sydney between 2pm and 7.30pm on Friday, November 15, and the train from Town Hall to Arncliffe at approximately 7pm that evening.

Anyone who was at the Men's Headquarters hairdresser in Arncliffe between 8am and 9.45am and Nick's Seafood Restuarant at Cockle Bay Wharf between 7.30pm and 11pm on November 16 should also be on alert.

Queensland Health has been notified of the case, involving a child visiting the West Moreton area from overseas.

The child was treated at Ipswich Hospital Emergency Department on Tuesday 19 November and on Thursday 21 November...

HEALTH authorities are contacting patients who attended the Redland Hospital emergency department at the same time as a man later diagnosed with the measles.

The man is Queensland's 63rd confirmed measles case for 2019.

He visited the Redland Hospital emergency department on November 25 and 26, part of an ongoing outbreak of measles in the Metro South Hospital and Health Service region.

So far, 25 people have been linked to the outbreak.

Figures provided by Queensland Health show 21 of this year's measles cases acquired the infection overseas, resulting in at least 19 more cases.

Of the 21 overseas-acquired cases, nine were infected in New Zealand, three in Vietnam, two in the Philippines, two in Samoa, one in Myanmar and one case in Thailand. Three cases visited multiple measles-endemic countries.

Seven of the 63 cases reported in Queensland this year have been children under five years old...

A measles alert has been issued after a woman who was later diagnosed with measles attended Ipswich Hospital Emergency Department and other parts of the city between November 29 and December 3.

Queensland Health has been notified of the case, who was a relative of a child later diagnosed with measles who presented to Ipswich Hospital Emergency Department on November 19 and 21.

The woman was treated at Ipswich Hospital Emergency Department between midnight Friday 29 November and 7am Saturday 30 November. West Moreton Health staff took appropriate infection prevention measures while assessing the woman's condition...

Three new measles cases – linked to the outbreak in Samoa that has killed 60 and infected 4000 – have been diagnosed in Queensland, taking the state’s 2019 tally to 67, meaning 2019 will be the worst for diagnoses of the disease since 1997.

Three new cases, all from the one family, have been diagnosed by the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service.

Those cases are believed to be linked to the highly contagious virus being brought into Queensland by a person travelling from Samoa, where measles has killed 60 and infected more than 4000 people, many of them children...

Victoria’s chief health officer, Doctor Brett Sutton, has warned Melburnians travelling overseas during the Christmas period to ensure they are properly vaccinated, after three more cases of measles were confirmed in the state.

A woman in her fifties is being treating in hospital, while a man and woman who are both in the in their thirties are being treated at their homes...

...There have been nine cases of measles diagnosed in Victoria in the past two weeks, taking the total to 56 this year.

Dr Sutton also named several places in Melbourne people may have come into contact with the virus between November 22 and December 5, including Thomastown’s Futsal Oz stadium, the Hellenic Republic restaurant in Brighton, the 109 tram route and terminal three at Melbourne Airport.

Anyone who visited Futsal Oz on November 22 between 10pm and midnight; Hellenic Republic at any time on November 29; or boarded Virgin Australia flight VA322 on November 30 (which departed Brisbane at 9.55am and arrived in Melbourne at 1.30pm) may have been exposed. People who passed through terminal three at Melbourne Airport between 1.30pm and 2.45pm on November 30, and commuters who travelled from Port Melbourne to the CBD on the 109 tram between December 3 and 5, should also keep an eye out for symptoms...

Measles warning after a second infected man arrives in Sydney

A second measles warning in the space of a month has been issued by NSW Health after another man returned to Australia carrying the disease.

Anyone who shared public transport with the man in Sydney between December 5 and 12 is urged to remain alert.

People who may have been exposed are at risk of developing measles until December 30 as it can take up to 18 days for symptoms to develop following exposure.

Queensland has recorded an almost 500 per cent spike in measles cases in 2019 as the state endures the flow-on effects from the deadly epidemic in the Pacific.

The state has had 71 cases this year, compared to 12 by this time in 2018 - for a 491 per cent rise.

It is more cases than the previous four years combined, and more than double the average over the last five years, according to state government figures...

• Friday 27 December he travelled on a 12:30pm bus from Wollongong to Central Station, then took a bus from Central to St Peters.

• Saturday 28 December he travelled by train from Sydenham to Bondi Junction around 10:00am to 11:00am. He then took a bus from Bondi Junction to Bondi Beach, arriving around 12:00pm. After spending the day at Bondi Beach he then returned home on the same route around 5:00pm.

• Sunday 29 December he travelled by train from Sydenham Station to Central Station at 11:00am and then took a train from Central Station to Berowra Station at 12:15pm. He returned on a train from Berowra Station to Central Station at 3:00pm, then another train from Central Station to Sydenham Station.

• Monday 30 December he went to Marrickville Metro between 3:00pm and 4:00pm.

• Tuesday 31 December he went to Marrickville Metro and a GP in Marrickville from around 10:30am to 1:30pm...

...The Australian woman did not travel overseas before she became infected and has never had measles before, causing concern as to how she picked up the disease.

Thought to be infectious from December 28, the young woman visited Flemington Markets, Hong Dat Butcher and Vietnamese Street Food in Marrickville, and Cang Chinese Restaurant in Mascot.

She also visited Sydney International Airport, where she went to Roll’d restaurant.

The woman travelled on the train and bus between Sydney’s south and west...
