A public health warning has been issued urging people to watch out for signs and symptoms of measles after four cases of the disease were reported in Brunswick or east Brunswick in Melbourne. The acting chief health officer of Victoria, Roscoe Taylor said that all the cases have occurred in the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick, but are unrelated to each other

He said that four people including two women, all in their 20s, and another woman in her 40s have contracted the diseases over the past week...

Five new cases of measles have been reported to the Victorian Health Department following an outbreak in Brunswick earlier this month.

The new cases bring the total number to nine of cases of the highly infectious viral disease that can cause serious illness, particularly in young children and adults.

Two of the five new cases have been treated in hospital.

They include three women and two men, all in their 20s and 30s and three of those live in Brunswick, one is from Preston and one is from Brunswick West.

Victoria's acting chief health officer Dr Roscoe Taylor said it was possible cases would emerge from other areas of Melbourne...

Twenty-one people are now confirmed to have contracted measles following an outbreak in Melbourne.

The outbreak began in February in Brunswick and surrounding areas.

The measles outbreak has also spread to two primary schools in Melbourne ? Princes Hill Primary School in North Carlton and Footscray West Primary School in Melbourne?s inner west are alerting parents to cases of the illness...

NSW Health has issued an alert after a person with measles was in the Sydney CBD and international airport while being ?highly contagious?. The person visited the Queen Victoria Building, Pitt St Mall and Sydney?s international airport, and also used public transport, between March 14 and 21.
NSW Health?s director, communicable diseases branch, Dr Vicky Sheppeard, said if anyone has been in those areas during that time, should look at symptoms of measles...

Health authorities have urged travellers, doctors and hotel residents to watch out for measles after four people were confirmed to have contracted the contagious illness.

The four patients spent time while they were infectious around a large number of people risking the spread of the airborne disease, the Sydney Morning Herald.

Two travellers who arrived to Sydney via a Virgin flight on March 28 and a Tiger Airlines flight on March 29 spent time in hostels in Cairns and Magnetic Island, north-east of Queensland before being diagnosed in Sydney.

NSW Health has warned the community especially doctors, travellers and hotel residents to be alert to the symptoms of measles after four people were reported to have been in the community while infectious

One person spent the night of March 29 in the emergency department at Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital upon their return.

Two children were also confirmed to have contracted the disease after spending time at Blacktown medical centre as well as Mt Druitt Hospital in western Sydney on April 2.

It is believed the children contracted the virus in India before arriving in Sydney on March 30 after catching the AI302 flight from Delhi...

A measles alert has been issued by Queensland Health after a Victorian woman who travelled to Brisbane earlier in the week tested positive for the highly-infectious illness.

The woman was infectious when she travelled from Melbourne to Brisbane on Saturday, June 25, and stayed in Brisbane for three days, the health department said.

She flew into Brisbane at 12.30pm on Saturday on Jetstar flight JQ 574 and travelled via train to Beenleigh Station.

The woman went to the Beaudesert Fair Shopping Centre on Monday afternoon before returning to Melbourne on Tuesday at 12.45pm on flight JQ 569...

Measles outbreak among Perth backpackers

Four backpackers visiting Perth have been diagnosed with measles.

The first traveller contracted the illness after a trip to Bali and three more people have since been diagnosed.

All four were staying in accommodation in Northbridge.

WA Health says there are a further two people who are suspected of having measles and who have been tested.

The public is warned they may have been exposed to the risk of measles if they frequented Northbridge between July 1-7, and July 13-20.

WA Health warns people could have been exposed if they went to Spinner's Backpackers Hostel in the first and third weeks of July, Royal Perth Hospital emergency on Thursday, July 7, the Brass Monkey Hotel on Friday, July 15, or Connections Nightclub on Saturday, July 16 into Sunday morning.

Anyone who went to the Northbridge Medical Centre at the following times may also have been exposed:

- Monday July 4 between 4pm-5pm

- Saturday July 16 between 10am-2pm

- Monday July 18 between 12.30pm-6pm

The man carrying the measles virus passed through Brisbane Airport?s international terminal earlier this week, the Courier Mail reported.

The man, a New Zealand national, travelled on a Virgin Airlines flight VA46 from Bali?s Denpasar airport.

He spent time in a Brisbane transit lounge, before catching Virgin flight VA104 to Wellington, New Zealand...

The tourist is known to have spent time at crowded locations in Darwin on Thursday October 13, including the Museum and Art Gallery of the NT at Bullocky Point and the Mindil Beach Markets. She also passed through Darwin Airport on Monday, October 17, before boarding a Jetstar flight for Cairns.

West Australians are being warned about an increased risk of measles after a Singapore Airlines passenger caught the illness while on holiday in Japan before returning home to Perth.

The passenger's first flight was SQ633 from Tokyo, arriving in Singapore about 11pm on October 20, and they then flew to Perth on SQ225, arriving about 5.15am the next morning.

The Health Department warns fellow passengers may have been exposed, as well as anyone in the arrival area at Perth Airport international terminal, Mead Medical Centre in Forrestfield on that Friday between 11am and midday, and the nearby St John of God Pathology collection centre between 11.20am and 12.30pm.

Exposure was also possible at Pathwest Collection Centre at Kalamunda Hospital on October 24 between 4.30pm and 5pm, Jetts 24 Hour Fitness in Forrestfield that same day from about 11.30am to 12.40pm, and Dome cafe in Kalamunda between about 2pm and 4pm...
