No kissing in the Kimberley: infectious mumps outbreak

Senior Public Health Nurse for the Kimberley Population Health Ashley Eastwood said that six cases of mumps had been diagnosed in the Kimberley.

"Most of the cases have been in children from eight to 13 years. But we have had an adult case in the Broome area," she told ABC News's Natalie Jones...

A rise in mumps has been reported in the Kimberley region.

A mumps outbreak that began in remote parts of the Kimberley has spread to the tourist mecca of Broome as health chiefs battle to contain the virus.

The Kimberley Public Health team has asked people to be aware of the symptoms after the number of confirmed cases rose to 45...

Western Australia's top doctor says anti-vaccination activists are to blame for an outbreak of the mumps at one of Perth's most prestigious private schools.

Fairfax Media understands three students have contracted mumps and other children are being tested to contain the outbreak at Guildford Grammar school...

WA was Australia?s mumps hotspot last year, with a record 438 cases making up 70 per cent of infections nationally.

It is the highest number for any State, according to Commonwealth figures going back to 1995.

It is still not clear what caused the huge surge, which started as an outbreak in the Kimberley in March and spread to boarding schools in Perth...
