Swine flu threat looms with 2 deaths

GUWAHATI, July 23: With two persons succumbing to swine flu in Guwahati and 134 cases of those infected with H1N1 virus detected in Assam, the vector-borne disease is emerging as a potent health threat in the State.

While one person died in Guwhati in April this year, another swine flu death has been reported in July in the city.

Swine flu broke out in the country in 2009, and since then, H1N1 infections have been reported regularly from across the country. Doctors said that the virus can surface any time of the year.

Red Alert! 151 cases of Swine Flu reported in Assam

Guwahati, Aug 6: According to sources, Assam has been affected by Swine Flu (H1N1 influenza) with 151 recorded cases across the state. The highest number has been recorded at Kamrup (M) with 133 cases. The rest 18 cases have been recorded at Sonitpur, Dibrugarh and other districts. According to latest information, three people have lost their lives so far.
