Japanese encephalitis vaccination campaign Lunching in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh

Tezu: Japanese Encephalitis campaign is going to start in Lohit District from 8th Nov’2010 to 22nd Nov/2010 to vaccinate the children between the age group of 1 to 15 yrs. In this regard a community Co-ordination meeting was held at Tezu under the chairmanship of H.N. Dubey EAC, Tezu for discussion on the campaign, reports DIPRO i/c.
In the meeting DMO, N. Ninu welcomed all the members and highlighted the importance of JE Vaccine and sits implementation while K.Rina, DDSE Tezu assured all possible help from his side and to circulate the message to all school of Lohit districts.
Chairperson ASM Haweli Kri, profusely thanked the govt. for initiative and selecting Lohit district as the sample District for JE Vaccination.
EAC Tezu H N Duney, requested all the members present to take part actively and he gave his best wishes for grand success of the programme assuring all possible help from the administration side.

Interestingly, no cases of JE have been recorded by the National Vector borne disease control program in Arunachal Pradesh from 2004-2010.

Abstract
Suspected cases of Japanese Encephalitis (J.E.) were recorded in the hospitals of Arunachal Pradesh from 1986 to 1995. 162 cases were diagnosed as J.E. with predominance in male sex and lower age group. Maximum cases were recorded between June to October. 11.3% pig sera showed J.E. antibodies when tested by ELISA test.
