Aruba: Two days after the government of Aruba confirmed its first two positive COVID-19 cases on March 13, officials announced a complete “lockdown” for all international incoming passengers starting at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, March 17 until March 31. Residents will still be able to enter, but the government is advising against nonessential travel. Cargo will continue to be able to be flown in and relief flights will be possible as long as the airline is willing to operate them.

Also Lockdown in Aruba
Posted on March 29, 2020

In Aruba too, very strict measures come into effect in a complete lockdown.

The lockdown, which starts at noon on March 29, means that individuals are only allowed to leave their home for essential activities, such as buying food, medicines, or exercising. In addition, as announced yesterday, a ban on meetings of 4 or more people will come into effect on Sunday; with the exception of families living under one roof. The curfew from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM will remain in effect until April 20, subject to review.

The government of Aruba has defined the following as nonessential, and they will have to stop working for as long as the government prescribes:

Schools and other educational institutions.

Clothing stores, shops selling accessories, jewelery or souvenirs; all shopping centers, all flea markets, tourist markets and kiosks, beauty shops (hair, nails etc.), barber shops.

Bars, fast food trucks (only take away and delivery is allowed), bakeries (only take away and delivery is allowed), restaurants (only take away and delivery is allowed).

Casinos, night clubs, adult entertainment, art exhibitions, recreation centers, cinemas, companies offering recreational activities, gyms and other exercise facilities, places for sports, museums.

Places with facilities for meetings and / or events, churches, construction projects.

The number of COVID-19 coronavirus cases in Aruba is now 50, out of the 601 people tested so far. Earlier today, the official census was published as 52, but it has been revised because 2 cases are inconclusive. It has also been announced that hospital visits are not allowed by the general public. This is because it is very difficult to follow and enforce the rules of social distance in the hospital. There are some exceptions for pediatric patients and for maternity related visits.

April 2, 2020 – Positive cases increase to 60. The number of COVID-19 coronavirus cases in Aruba is currently 60. A total of 805 persons have been tested so far. Some people are contacting us to ask when Aruba plans to allow international flights again. It is understandable that many people want to re-book flights and everyone in Aruba is extremely appreciative of visitors wanting to come back as soon as possible. However, there is no information available at this time as to when the Aruban Government will allow flights to the island to resume
