Report Key points:
 Since October 4th, 2015, there were over 330 positive influenza antigen tests that have been reported to Arkansas Department of Health by healthcare providers; week 47 reports were received from Baxter, Benton, Boone, Clinton, Crawford, Crittenden, Cross, Desha, Faulkner, Fulton, Garland, Grant, Hot Spring, Independence, Lee, Logan, Lonoke, Miller, Morgan, Poinsett, Pulaski, Saline, Sebastian, St. Francis, Union, Washington, and White Counties.
 Among flu antigen tests that can distinguish between A and B strains, 46% were A, and 54% were B.
 Four sample tested negative by PCR testing at ADH lab last week.
 About 4.0% of patients visiting emergency rooms last week were for ILI. Less than 1% was for outpatient’s visits.
 The average school absenteeism rate last week was 11.16%, little high mainly due to the holidays.
 Nationwide, and for week 46, the geographic spread of influenza in Guam was reported as widespread; Puerto Rico reported regional activity; five states reported local activity; 39 states reported sporadic activity; and the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and six states reported no influenza activity.

Virginia. Five states reported regional activity, and 12 states reported local activity. Sporadic was reported
in 29 states. The District of Columbia and three states reported no influenza activity. Puerto Rico and the
U.S. Virgin Islands did not submit reports.
 The proportion of deaths in the U.S. attributed to pneumonia and influenza (P&I) continues to be below the
epidemic threshold. This information is based on data available on December 31 for deaths occurring in
Week 49 (ending December 12) through the National Center for Health Statistics Mortality Surveillance
System and the 122 Cities Mortality Reporting System.

providers. Week 8 reports were received from Arkansas, Benton, Boone, Carroll, Clark, Craighead,
Crittenden, Desha, Faulkner, Franklin, Garland, Grant, Hot Spring, Izard, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson,

one B Yamagata. Fourteen from other labs, two A, seven B, and five H1N1.
 About 6 percent of patients visiting emergency rooms last week were there for ILI. About 5 percent were of
outpatient visits were for ILI.
