Arkansas has confirmed its first case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) this season in a backyard poultry flock in eastern Baxter County.

The Arkansas Department of Agriculture urges poultry owners to monitor their flocks for signs of illness or sudden death and follow biosecurity measures to help prevent the spread of the virus. This is currently the only confirmed detection in Arkansas, but cases in other states make prevention and monitoring especially important.

Report suspected cases immediately to the Department at (501) 823-1746.
