Human Plague Returns to Apache County After 11 Years

Public health officials in Apache County in Arizona have confirmed the county’s first human case of plague since 2015, marking the only known human infection reported in the United States so far in 2026, according to multiple outlets, including AZ Family.

Authorities said the patient has recovered following medical treatment and emphasized that the risk to the broader public remains low.​
