No influenza-associated influenza deaths have been reported this season.
? 338 laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza were reported in the past week, from 13 counties. 1,159 cases have been reported this season from 14 counties.
? 89% of reports this season are influenza A; 6% are influenza B; 4% are unknown type. Of subtyped influenza A viruses, 72% are influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 (previously referred to as influenza A 2009 (H1N1)) and 28% are influenza A (H3).
? 105 of 114 specimens tested positive for influenza at the Arizona State Public Health Laboratory in the past week: 64 influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 viruses, 37 influenza A (H3) viruses, and four influenza B viruses.
? Influenza-like illness activity at sentinel providers was within Arizona?s threshold in week 10, but elevated for week 9.
? 13 new pneumonia and influenza (P&I) deaths were identified from the death certificate database in the last week. 249 P&I deaths have been identified for the 2011-2012 influenza season; 414 P&I deaths occurred in this period in the 2010-2011 season.
