GUADALAJARA, Jalisco 25-Apr .- The first case of human influenza this year was detected Friday at a 21 year old native of Tlaquepaque, said the director of Public Health, Mario Amezcua M?rquez.
He said that since May 2010 there had been no new cases.
"He went with us to the health of Santa Anita, she is a resident of the municipality of Tlaquepaque, came with a whole specific symptoms for influenza-like illness, the sample was taken," he said.
This patient did not require hospitalization, so that recovery is brought from his house, he said ..
The official said the affected was not vaccinated, so he got sick.
"Something very important is that the patient had no vaccine, no specific vaccine for H1N1, or the seasonal" he said.
For the moment, two thirds of the population of Jalisco are vaccinated against influenza.
So far they have applied 4 million doses, which implies that this group is already protected, plus people already sick and you're immune.
Amezcua M?rquez said that the stage of the disease is completely different from two years ago, so the warning signs are not high, but promoted the use of hygiene measures.
"The best way to protect yourself is quite simply the habits that we stopped teaching the flu, we should not lose as handwashing, how to sneeze and above all, get vaccinated," he said.
As in all cases detected, the Ministry of Health implemented a fence around the home health of the patient and no further cases were detected.
