Anti-viral resistance 2013-2014 flu season - all strains: oseltamivir, amantadine, rimantadine, zanamivir

From Flu View November 10-16, 2013:

Since October 1, 2013, CDC has tested 151 2009 influenza A (H1N1), 34 influenza A (H3N2), and nine influenza B virus samples for resistance to neuraminidase inhibitors.

While the majority of the tested viruses showed susceptibility to the antiviral drugs oseltamivir and zanamivir, one additional 2009 H1N1 virus proved resistant to oseltamivir during the week of November 6-10, but was sensitive to zanamivir.

In total, four 2009 H1N1 viruses have shown resistance to oseltamivir so far this season, though each of the viruses have been sensitive to zanamivir.

High levels of resistance to the adamantanes (amantadine and rimantadine) persist among 2009 influenza A (H1N1) and A (H3N2) viruses. Adamantanes are not effective against influenza B viruses.

Still early days in US!

3 in EU!

I have been keeping a tally from 2009 and my list stands at 678!

73 more than WHO reported back in Nov 2011!!

And that's only checking the major MOH's, journal articles etc..! Including Hong Kong, Australia, England, USA, EU and South America!

The %'s were so low/country there has been no need to post the information!

....I think it's time for "WHO" to tally up!
