Another person dies of swine flu
Another person has died of swine flu in the West Midlands over the past week, NHS chiefs have confirmed.
The latest death means the total number of people in the region who have died from the illness now stands at 32.
NHS West Midlands said 62.5% of people who died were under 45 years of age, while 84% had been patients with a "pre-existing underlying condition".
The news comes as experts said figures seemed to show the pandemic was petering out across England.
Health bosses in the West Midlands said the figures also seemed to be dropping in the region.
A total of 189 people with swine flu were admitted to hospital over the past week compared to 207 over the previous week.
The reported number of patients seeing their GP for flu and flu-like illnesses was 60.9 per 100,000 of the population in the past week, compared to 62.2 over the previous week.
However, that was still higher than the English average of 44.9 per 100,000 of the population.
