The H1N1 virus has claimed the life of another Albertan.

CTV reports the latest death is a person from the Calgary area.

To date, five people in this province have died after getting the swine flu, two of which are from the Calgary area.

The first person to die from swine flu in the area was a 25 year old mom of four who had no underlying health problems.

According to Alberta Health, there are now 1,562 cases of H1N1 in the province, nearly 600 of them in the Calgary area.

There have been 15 new cases in Calgary identified since Friday.

A Calgary woman is the fifth person in Alberta to die with the H1N1 virus.

The woman was between 40 and 60-years-old.

Health officials say she died in a Calgary hospital about one week ago and had pre-existing conditions which made her susceptible to serious complications.

There are now 1,562 confirmed cases of H1N1, also known as swine flu.

There are 589 cases in Calgary and 785 in Edmonton.
