According to the Ministry of Health, it was a male patient, 46 years old, Angolan nationality, with symptoms of skin lesions (pimples) and fever, who was admitted to the Cuimba Municipal Hospital and later evacuated to the Mbanza Kongo Provincial Hospital.
"The symptoms of Monkeypox can be confused with other diseases characterized by skin lesions with or without fever", the document explains.
For this reason, the note reads, given the evidence that these videos were leaked by people in contact with the suspected case, it considers it absolutely irresponsible to disseminate videos, photographs, audios, etc. outside of officially established channels, which violate the privacy of patients and are against professional secrecy.
For the MINSA, such acts, which seriously violate good practices and procedures for treating hospital users, will henceforth be subject to zero tolerance and will be subject to disciplinary and other procedures that may be imposed, if it is proven that they were carried out by employees working in health units.
In the statement, the MINSA reinforces that it remains on maximum alert and is doing everything, individually and collectively, to protect the country and its populations from this disease that affects 15 African countries, including two, the DRC and Zambia, which share a long border with Angola.
