Malaria killed more than 2,500 people in Angola by March
Angola recorded, in the first quarter of this year, 2,548 deaths from malaria, the main cause of death in the country, in a total of two million cases, plus 467 fatalities compared to the same period in 2019, was announced today.

According to the coordinator of the National Malaria Control Program, Jos? Martins, from January to March this year, 2,065,673 cases and 2,548 deaths were recorded, figures that he did not consider worrying.

According to the official, the strategy consists mainly of preventive action, namely with the spraying inside and outside the home, the distribution of mosquito nets and the administration of intermittent preventive treatment against malaria to pregnant women.
"Right now, there are no breaks in relation to this particular component. Rapid tests are being distributed to create testing conditions in a timely manner and also treatments for severe malaria, which is what the provinces have been asking for," he said. .
