Daily report on coronavirus

Every day at 10 pm you can receive in the mail the summary of the most important events of the day related to Covid-19 and additional information of interest.

The Minister of Health, Joan Mart?nez Benazet, has stated that the pressure of the ICU has decreased and that it is well below the maximum capacity of mechanical ventilation. For this reason, and with the advent of new fans, Benazet has indicated that some of these could be referred to hospitals such as La Seu d'Urgell, if they needed it.

As for the number of positive cases found in healthcare centers, there are 40 admitted patients in the Nostra Senyora de Meritxell hospital, 16 of which are in the ICU, while in the residence the Cedar has 48 positive, of which 18 are from the Salita residence.

Benazet also said that the number of active cases had begun to decline and added that the government was already working on a number of protocols so that citizens could 'enjoy a walk'. The measure should take effect in the coming days and will allow people to go out for about an hour. However, the Andorran executive warns that this announcement should not be taken as a sign of relaxation, as it is not a measure of total distrust.

Decreases the number of active patients since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Saturday, April 11, 2020
The Minister of Health, Joan Mart?nez Benazet, has announced that the epidemiological results updated this Saturday show a decrease in the number of active cases, which are 500, compared to 504 yesterday. This is the first time this decline has occurred since the pandemic began. The Minister emphasized that "we are entering a phase of decline", but emphasized that "we cannot fall into false optimism because the virus continues in the country." He reiterated that this decrease was due "to measures of social confinement and distance".
The holder of the Health portfolio also reported that there are currently 40 hospitalized patients out of the total number of patients diagnosed. Of these, 24 are on the floor and 16 are in the intensive care unit. As for the number of those who have already received two PCR tests with a negative result and therefore can already be discharged, the number has reached 94 people.

Two deaths in the last hours have increased to 31 the total number of deaths by Covid-19. The Minister of Health emphasized that the incidence of the disease in the country has so far been high, but on the contrary, mortality has been lower than in many other states. Now, he says, confinement must be maintained, but it is time to do screening among the population so that more activities can be opened. Antibody tests will begin next week and volunteers from the scientific field will be recruited to help.

The death of a man and a woman admitted to the hospital increases the deaths to 31 by Covid-19. This is a patient over 80 years old who was on the floor and another patient older than 70 who was intubated in the ICU.
The last count is 659 confirmed positive, 468 active. The number of cured is 160. The Minister of Health emphasized that although the incidence in the country was high, especially at the beginning, the mortality rate is lower in comparison with other European countries. This has been achieved, largely because the collapse of the healthcare system has been avoided.

Andorra announces an hour of leisure so that the population can go out
The death toll from covid-19 in the country rises to 33, with two deaths in the last hours

ACN

Updated 04/15/2020 at 15:31
Andorra will launch a device on Thursday to allow the population to enjoy an hour of leisure outside the home and to walk with a maximum of five people living in the same home. Thus, outdoor activity can be done on alternate days, including non-risky physical exercises or cycling. In all cases, however, masks should be provided to prevent the virus from spreading and to maintain a safety distance of four meters with other people. Regarding the evolution of covid-19, the Principality's executive has reported two more deaths in people aged 85 and 95, bringing the number to 33. In addition, there are 471 active cases and 169 cured people, as well as 17 admitted to the ICU.

The government of Andorra has set schedules to regulate the types of trips abroad. Thus, the strip from six to nine in the morning will be intended for physical activities of an individual nature and the later, until eleven, will be for walks or shopping. Meanwhile, the stretch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. is reserved for those vulnerable and over the age of seventy, at which point the disinfection of urban elements will have to be done. Then, between two and seven o'clock, it will be for a walk and the last two hours of the day, until nine in the evening, for exercise.

As far as the exit order is concerned, those who live in domiciles where the building's access door number is even will leave on even days, while those who have an odd number will do so on the remaining days. In the case of houses without a number, the alphabetical criterion will be followed based on the name and the letter 'A' on the 'M' will be given on even days and the 'N' on the 'Z' will be given odd days. On the other hand, those who are suffering the disease, have symptoms or are quarantined, will not be able to enjoy this leisure time and, therefore, will not be able to benefit from these exceptions to confinement.

Meanwhile, a daily outward departure is allowed from the home and by therapeutic indication or medical criterion of persons with disabilities with a companion, provided that the instructions issued by the government are fulfilled. In all the cases stipulated above, it is preferable to do so individually. In addition, to avoid contact with potentially contaminated surfaces, the sports and leisure equipment of parks and gardens should not be used, and it is advisable not to touch the benches with your hands.

According to the country's executive, these exits must be carried out in an orderly manner, avoiding crowds and minimizing the risk of transmission of the infection. Also that they cannot be carried with a car and that the maximum distance traveled from the home must not exceed two kilometers. In addition, hand hygiene before and after departure is recommended, as well as stairs instead of the lift where possible.

Regarding the study of antibodies to be carried out through tests across the population, the Andorran Health Minister, Joan Mart?nez Benazet, emphasized that it was a collective responsibility of all citizens, since, this will not be required. However, he added that doing so will provide valuable information for future deconfiguration decisions. Finally, he explained that a certificate will be issued, which will be digital in some cases, reflecting the epidemiological situation in which each person is.
