MOSTAGANEM - Sixteen (16) people belonging to the same family have been victims of collective food poisoning at Douar Ouled Bashir, in the commune of Oued El Kheir (south of Mostaganem), the acting director was informed on Saturday. the health and population of the wilaya.

Dr. Benahmed explained that the 16 people were victims of complications after a first food poisoning of the same family last Tuesday, causing the death of a 16-year-old girl and causing disorders of various degrees. of gravity to 11 other people.

Regarding the cause of intoxication, the same official pointed out that the victims of the first intoxication (last Tuesday) reported having consumed melon that preliminary analyzes and bacteriological investigation concluded that they were healthy.

Dr. Benahmed estimated that the family suffered complications after eating foods containing salmonella bacteria, which should be confirmed by the bacteriological survey conducted by the watch cell of the Health and Population Directorate and whose results will be known in two days.
