SANTIAGO .- A 38 year old woman died this morning the product of human influenza in the Base Hospital of Puerto Montt, becoming the second fatality in the country because of this disease so far this year.



The woman, who lived in that city, had been admitted to hospital on June 16, derived from the Cl?nica Los Andes, suffering from bilateral pneumonia and respiratory failure. Using the PCR test was confirmed as suffering from influenza A H1N1.



As reported at the hospital, the victim was suffering in addition to two chronic diseases and obesity, renal failure, which affected its negative prognosis.



The woman remained for about two weeks connected to a mechanical ventilator in the ICU of the hospital, at which time he suffered several decompensation and a progressive deterioration, until he died at 6.30 am this morning.



In Puerto Montt Base Hospital reported that there is another critical patient product of H1N1 influenza A boarding school in that location, but the diagnosis has improved and is no longer connected to mechanical ventilation.



According to Health Ministry data, this woman is the third fatality of the year because of human influenza, but the second case if we consider the outbreak of this year.



The previous case was reported last week in Talca and it was a young man of 22 who also had AIDS and had not been vaccinated against the H1N1 virus.
