The outbreak was reported in John D'Or Prairie, one of the three communities that make up the Little Red River Cree Nation.

The outbreak could include the first cases of measles in Alberta this year, according to the latest data.

People at several locations in or near Airdrie at several dates and times this month may have been exposed to measles.

Alberta Health Services says a case of measles has been confirmed in the area.

The locations, dates and times of potential exposure include:

Superstore at 300 Veterans Blvd. N.E. in Airdrie, on March 8 between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.;
New Horizon Mall (Sky Castle Family Entertainment Centre, cafeteria) at 260300 Writing Creek Cres. in Balzac, on March 9 between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.;

Confirmed measles cases in the Edmonton region have public health officials issuing a warning about the potential risk of exposure.

In a public health advisory issued late Sunday, Alberta Health Services said cases have been confirmed in the Edmonton region, including two instances when the highly contagious disease could have spread to others at local medical facilities.

The advisory said people who were at the Stollery Children's Hospital's emergency department between March 14 at 10 p.m. and March 15 at 12:30 a.m. may have been exposed.

Anyone who was at the Belle Rive Medicentres Family Health Care Clinic in northeast Edmonton on March 12 between 2:15 p.m. and about 5:15 p.m. is also at risk of exposure, Alberta Health Services cautioned.

The advisory is the latest in a string of public health alerts in recent weeks as Alberta and regions across the country contend with a resurgence in measles cases.​..

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has learned of another measles case in the Taber area.

AHS is warning of two locations where people could have been exposed, including one in Lethbridge.​

The infected person was at the Colosseum Laser Tag Centre in Lethbridge on March 22.

The exposure time was approximately 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The second exposure spot was the Coulee Medical Centre in Taber on March 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.​..

​Alberta Health Services (AHS) said Thursday that a measles case in the Foremost area has been confirmed and that people who visited three Lethbridge businesses in late March might have been exposed.

On March 28, the person who tested positive for measles went to three south Lethbridge businesses — Costco, Real Canadian Superstore and Boston Pizza. The estimated exposure time periods were from 4:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at the Costco, 5:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. at the Real Canadian Superstore and 6:45 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Boston Pizza.​

“Anyone who attended these locations at these times who was born in or after 1970 and has less than two documented doses of measles-containing vaccine is at risk for developing measles and is strongly encouraged to review their immunization records and monitor themselves for symptoms of measles,” said AHS.


As of Tuesday at noon, Alberta had 25 measles cases, including five in the AHS south zone and three in the Calgary zone. The case in the Foremost area — Foremost is about 240 kilometres southeast of Calgary — is the only confirmed new one in the province​...

43 cases of measles in Alberta, outbreak east of Edmonton prompts public alert

​The number of confirmed cases of measles keeps growing in Alberta, particularly in the Alberta Health Services central zone where an outbreak has been identified in Two Hills, prompting a public health alert.

Once declared eradicated in Canada in 1998, measles is now making a comeback, spreading rapidly in recent months due to declining vaccination rates.

As of noon Tuesday, there were 43 measles cases across Alberta, and 21 of those are in the central zone — where seven new cases were identified over the past 24 hours.

Of the 43 confirmed cases, all but four of them are in people under the age of 18, according to the province’s dashboard.

The AHS zone breakdown is as follows: 21 cases in central, nine cases in the north, six cases in the south, four cases in the Edmonton area, and three cases in the Calgary area. Those numbers will update at noon Wednesday.​..

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has been notified of an additional new case of measles within the Central Zone where there are now 22 confirmed cases at this time.

In a news release Friday evening, AHS said four new cases have been reported in central Alberta, including one person on an Edmonton to Mexico flight on April 2 who may have infected others. Alberta confirms 58 measles cases, urges vaccination

​Alberta's chief medical officer of health says measles cases in the province have reached 58, with public health teams monitoring clusters in the south and central zones.

"Measles outbreaks are occurring in Canada, including Alberta," Dr. Mark Joffe said in a statement Friday. "As of April 11, we have seen 58 confirmed cases in the province, and we are paying close attention to rising cases within the south and central zones."

Joffe said health officials are tracking cases and contacts and working with local leaders to support affected communities.

Of the 58 confirmed cases, about 48 are believed to be past their communicability period, the time during which they can transmit measles to others.​..

Alberta Health Services has issued a warning regarding a confirmed case of measles in Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan.

AHS said Monday evening that an individual had been confirmed to have measles, and confirmed that the individual attended three different medical clinics between April 10 and 14.

Health officials in Alberta are reporting 29 new cases of measles, bringing the province's total to 118 since early March.

The government says many of the new cases are in Alberta's south and central zones, seven are in the north and one is in Edmonton.

Alberta Health Services says people may have been exposed to the highly contagious disease at three medical clinics in the Edmonton area earlier this month.

The health authority says people may have been exposed at the Kinder Care Medical Clinic in Edmonton on April 10, the Ross Creek Medical Imaging Clinic in Fort Saskatchewan on April 11, and the ROKband Pediatric Headshape Clinic in Edmonton on April 14.

A similar warning has been issued for the Peace River emergency department, where people may have been exposed to measles on April 15 and 16.​..

As of May 2, the province has reported 106 cases in southern Alberta, with 72 in the central region and 20 in the north.
