People in the Calgary area are being warned of an uptick in cases of whooping cough, an illness particularly dangerous for the very young.

Alberta Health Services said there have been 39 reported cases of whopping cough, or pertussis, in the AHS Calgary zone since November 2023 — 17 of which were locally acquired infections in Okotoks...
