Alaska department reports "statewide outbreak" of gonorrhea

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Reported cases of a sexually transmitted disease are on the rise in 2017, so much so that the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services are calling it a "statewide outbreak."
According to a new report issued by the DHSS, cases of gonorrhea increased between 2015 and 2016, rising from 1,115 to 1,454. Into 2017, the department said those cases are continuing to increase.
As of June 2017, the reported cases were already at 1,035, which is near the 1,115 figure that encompassed the whole year of 2015...
