Local Hospital Warns Respiratory Illness in Children

Schools has been in session for three weeks in Mobile County and already some students have ended up at the USA's Children's and Women's Hospital. That's because of a virus, associated with the common cold, called the enterovirus.
The virus has been around, but doctors say what's new, is the way it's attacking children's respiratory systems.

MOBILE, Alabama -- Six cases of children with the enterovirus 68 respiratory illness have been confirmed at University of South Alabama Children's & Women's Hospital, where officials have seen high volumes of children with respiratory illness in recent weeks.
The Mobile County Health Department confirmed Wednesday that six patients from USA Children's & Women's Hospital had tested positive for the virus.
