The 2011-12 Influenza Season officially began October 2; however, activity in Alabama remains low. Reported influenza-like illness is well below Alabama's threshold for significant activity. No specimens positive for influenza have been received at the Alabama Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL). http://adph.org/influenza/
Week 49: Local Activity
ILI: ~2.5% (weeks 45 and 47, ILI was over baseline of 4.48%)
Activity in Alabama remains low; however, a specimen received week ending 12/10/2011 at the state laboratory from Public Health Area 10 (southeast Alabama) has tested positive for seasonal type H3 Influenza-like illness reported from PHA 10 is also above the expected.
