ILI has increased statewide from the previous week, 2.8 percent to 3.7 percent. In Alabama, the baseline of significant influenza activity is 4.71.

As of February 2, 2011, of the specimens submitted to the Alabama Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL) in the last three weeks that have tested positive for influenza - 16% influenza A (H1N1), 20% influenza A (H3),and 64% influenza B strains were indicated.

Since October 3, 2010, 75 influenza-associated hospitalizations with laboratory confirmation were submitted to the Bureau of Clinical Laboratories. The majority of the specimens were positive for influenza B (73%), followed by 21% influenza A (H3), and 5% influenza A (H1N1).
