Ala. death toll due to H1N1 virus rises to 30
MONTGOMERY, AL (WAFF) - State Health officials confirm the number of deaths from Swine Flu in Alabama has now risen to 30.
The latest fatality is a Jefferson County man in his 20's.
Vaccine for H1N1 influenza is still coming into the state. All family practitioners, OB/GYN offices and pediatricians have now received a portion of the total amount of vaccine they had ordered, said State Health Officer Don Williamson.
To date, the state has received a little over 200,000 doses of vaccine with another 150,000 doses expected to arrive either Monday or Tuesday, according to State Health Department Spokesman Dr. Jim McVay.
The vaccine arriving in Alabama will continue to be pushed to health care providers through the next week.
Almost all the vaccine distributed to county health departments has now been given to people in the high risk group although enough remains for vaccination clinics to be held next week in eight counties.
Two clinics are currently scheduled Saturday, Nov 7 in Montgomery and Lee Counties. Walker County is set to vaccinate people in the high risk group Monday.
Clinics will also be held Thursday in Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Marion and Winston counties.
