Tuberculosis case confirmed at Birmingham middle school

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ? School officials confirmed a tuberculosis (TB) case at a Birmingham middle school on March 30th.

Birmingham officials were made aware of the possible case at Green Acres Middle School last week. Since then, a "crisis response plan" has been put in place for student health and safety, including identifying contacts of the infected person who should be tested with a TB skin test.

On April 6th, Green Acres will offer free TB skin tests for both students and teachers on campus. The results from those tests will be made available by the school on Monday, April 9th. A follow-up test will be given in May to all those who test negative on the first test...
