Months after German airline drew outcry for decision, travel website that broke the story reports deal to compensate more than 100 Hasidic passengers

Dansdeals did an excellent investigation into what went on. There was an overlay of class discrimination in mask policy that crystallized into clear discrimination against conservative Jewish passengers in economy class, even though the two minor instances of mask compliance in economy class involved just a couple of both Jewish and non-Jewish passengers. One Jewish man in business class almost got detained, too, but his Jewish friend who had made it through came back and convinced gate agents to let him through. They were both dressed in modern western clothes, but feared the detained man's name might have targeted him.
