29,152 total detected mpox cases in 2024
6.105 confirmed cases
738 deaths
2,912 new cases in week 36
374 confirmed cases
14 new deaths
overall cumulately
males = 63% in confirmed cases
children < 15 years = 41%
testing rate = 52%
test positivity rate = 40%
15 countries now affected with the addition of Morocco this week.
Compared to 2023 cases are up 177% by epi week 36.
38.5% increase in deaths.
Clade 1b is in DRC, Burundi, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda
Clade 1a and 1b in Kinshasa, DRC.
September 22 - a virtual meeting to be held on mpox with heads of states and other officials, partners.
