Week 13:
The influenza activity increased slightly within the MHS compared to the previous week; influenza activity remains low to moderate in overseas DoD laboratory surveillance networks.
The influenza vaccination rate (final update of the season, as of 29 March 2012) for the DoD (Active Duty component only) was 97%.

Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center
69 influenza A, 22 B, and 1 unsubtyped positives were detected during Week 13 (includes molecular and rapid tests); the positivity rate in all tested samples has increased slightly to 15.9% from previous week (14.9%).
The proportion of antiviral prescriptions for DoD beneficiaries in the inpatient setting increased this week compared to the previous week (12.3% this week compared to 8.4% last week).

Army Institute of Public Health
Army outpatient ILI visit counts decreased by 44% compared to previous week; possibly due to a data lag in ESSENCE. Influenza A is the predominant virus identified among positive influenza samples this season.

Southeast Asia: Low influenza activity with circulation of B only (AFRIMS, NAMRU-2).
Europe: Moderate influenza activity with co-circulation of influenza A/H1, A/H3, and B (USEUCOM).

The influenza activity level within the MHS continues to decrease from previous weeks.
