* Influenza-like illness (ILI) and pneumonia and influenza (P&I) incidence rates have fluctuated slightly since week 40, but it is too early in the season to determine distinct trends.
* The percent of all outpatient visits due to ILI remained at or below baseline levels and remained similar to the 2008-2009 influenza season and at or below the 2009-2010 influenza season.
* The percent of all outpatient visits due to P&I tracked very similar to the 2008-2009 influenza season and remained well below the 2009-2010 season, with the exception of PACOM beneficiary percents which have been increasing since week 40, but remains similar to the baseline percent.
* There have been 8 reportable medical event (RME) influenza cases (none had been vaccinated against seasonal influenza) among SMs since week 40 (compared to 840 cases last season). An additional 11 cases have been reported among other beneficiaries.

* Influenza-like illness (ILI) and pneumonia and influenza (P&I) incidence rates have remained fairly stable since week 40.
* The percent of all outpatient visits due to ILI was below baseline levels and at or below previous season percents with the exception of US beneficiaries which increased slightly above baseline and previous season percents.
* The percent of all outpatient visits due to P&I continued to track closely with the 2008-2009 influenza season and remained well below the 2009-2010 season and baseline percents.
* There have been 11 reportable medical event (RME) influenza cases (one had been vaccinated against seasonal influenza) among SMs since week 40 (compared to 939 cases last season). An additional 15 cases have been reported among other beneficiaries.

 Of reported influenza positive cases across the MHS, 27% were fully vaccinated (>14 days post vaccine) at the time of illness
 Only one case of confirmed influenza from recruit training centers this season (influenza B from Ft. Leonard Wood)
 Testing and viral characterization is underway for 16 A/H3N2 samples from a shipboard cluster in September out of S. America

Influenza-like illness (ILI) and pneumonia and influenza (P&I) incidence rates decreased this week, but overall appear relatively stable since the beginning of the season.

The percent of all outpatient visits due to ILI remained relatively stable since last week, with percents now at or below baseline and previous season percents for all groups and regions with the exception of US, EUCOM, and PACOM beneficiary percents which were above baseline.

The percent of all outpatient visits due to P&I remained similar to last week and were at or below baseline and previous season percents.

DoD:
* Influenza-like illness (ILI) clinic visits continue to trend upward throughout the military health system (MHS).
* Circulating strains of influenza identified and analyzed throughout the DoD continue to align closely with the current vaccine strains.
* Vaccine coverage for active duty service members is currently at 87% (US civilian coverage is estimated at 33%).

Central America: ILI activity is primarily due to influenza B and other respiratory viruses and is trending downward
South America: Partners at NAMRU-6 in Lima, Peru have seen a dramatic decrease in influenza activity throughout S. America
