2 Deaths From Congo-Crimea Haemorrhagic Fever Reported in North

Symptoms include high fever, headache, bodily discomfort, nausea, stomach pain, and occasionally bleeding.

The health department of Balkh province reported that in the past week 10 positive cases of Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) have been recorded in north region of the country, and two people have died.

Local Balkh officials said that incidents of this illness were rising in the country's north, and they urged religious leaders and the media to warn people about the dangers associated with the disease’s spread.

"10 positive cases of Congo have been recorded; sadly, we had two deaths. The Abu Ali Sinai regional hospital in Balkh has its own particular preparations, and the 50-bed Antani hospital is also ready,” said Najibullah Tawana, director of the health department of Balkh.

36 Cases of Congo Fever in Afghanistan's Herat in 2 Months

In the past two months, 36 instances of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever have been reported by doctors in the western province of Herat, Afghanistan, including five deaths.

The number of cases increased this year, according to Mohammad Asif Kabir, Deputy Public Health of Herat which has led to authorities' concern about the spread of diseases, especially throughout Eid-ul-Adha.

People have been urged to take the required precautions before slaughtering animals the medical staff at the infectious disease department of the provincial hospital in Herat.

Earlier in Takhar province, three cases of Congo fever were reported, one of which resulted in patient death.

Officials said that 91 persons in Afghanistan had been infected with the disease the previous week, and seven people have passed away this summer...​
