Mexicali, Baja California .- agricultural authorities of the federation and the institution implemented quarantine control measures on farms and properties affected by an outbreak of "newcastle" caused mortality of birds of all kinds.

The State Secretariat for Agricultural Development (Sefo) reported that in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA), seeking to protect the health status of poultry.

The "newcastle" featured in the Mexicali Valley causes high morbidity and mortality in birds of all kinds, "but not a public health problem, their presence is due to the mobilization of sick birds or infected with wild birds."

For that reason, both agencies seek to control the disease, quarantine affected premises, and indicating to all bird owners to refrain from mobilizing to achieve control and eradication of the disease.

Also, notify immediately the SAGARPA Sefo or any suspected cases in poultry or cockpits, to be attended by authorized personnel.
